This Holiday Season Celebrate with #GivingTuesday

The one main reason you probably wouldn't see me in stores following Thanksgiving is that I find it the most ironic few days to start shopping. When I think of Thanksgiving, I see it as a day to spend time with loved ones and to give thanks to your blessings. I can't imagine running out at midnight - or worse that same day - to purchase a television.

I know many people feel differently (obviously, because we wouldn't have Black Friday otherwise!) and I also know many don't have the family to spend the day with and other people like the opportunity to get out of the house and spend time with family in a different way. Also, those deals are pretty amazing that you see out there and some people may be able to buy things they wouldn't any other time of the year.

But if you want to start a new tradition, join with me on this coming Tuesday. Let's make Giving Tuesday a new thing. We have Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday. Why not Giving Tuesday? (I can't even acknowledge the idea of Brown Thursday. It isn't Brown Thursday. It's Thanksgiving. Yikes people).

Anyways, how can you take part in Giving Tuesday?

On December 2nd, take a portion of the money you may spend on loved ones, and give to those you don't expect anything in return. If you don't have the money to give, why not do something good for someone that isn't expecting it? Shoveling a neighbor's walkway and clearing any snow or leaves. Buy a meal for someone hungry you may see on the streets.

But if you do have the money, even if it's only $5 or $10, find a fundraiser through GiveForward.com. I even have a few to share with you -

- The Shah Family has accumulated over $21,000 in medical bills due to the costs of cancer treatment for their young son. Their insurance company refuses to pay for the additional costs. Give to the Shah family and ease their burden just a little this holiday season by clicking this link.

There are so many other ways to give through GiveForward. Follow this link to find others to give to and if you have a story to share with others and want to start your fundraiser.
