Check Out This Epic Maze a Cat Owner Made for His Cats

If you have a cat, or happen to adore cats, you probably know how much they love boxes. LOVE.

So this guy named Chris Poole, a somewhat YouTube star thanks to his cats, has created a pretty epic cat maze. I learned of this thanks to Geek.com's coverage of the maze. The maze, as you can see in the video below, is made of 50 boxes and the two cats enjoy themselves endlessly.

The video shows how he cuts the boxes and lines them up to create a maze. Each cat has their own exploring technique such as hopping from box to box to slithering between the holes cut open for them or weaving in and out and around the boxes. There are also treats inside the boxes the cats can find to make the whole thing worthy.

This video is unbelievably adorable and absolutely will make your day. Check it out below -

These Wichita Fire Crews Saved this Pup's Day

(Original Story posted to The Witchita Eagle).

Anyone up for some puppy news? I get these news alerts each day and I had to share this news out of Witchita, Kansas.

So this little adorable puppy got his head stuck in the middle of a tire somehow. Check out this tweet!

According to the post on Facebook, resident's DID try to get the little puppy's head out of the tire but they weren't successful. Hence, the unusual call to the fire department. With soapy water, the crew was able to free the puppy from the wheel and is now in the arms of his owner.

I'd say this person says it best -

Ozeri Salt and Pepper Shaker - My Review

Are you in need of a new salt and pepper shaker? Maybe one that takes out the hassle of salt and pepper getting everywhere thanks to you vigorously shaking?

Everyone meet the Ozeri Salt and Pepper Shaker. I'm kind of really into this thing.

So, this thing looks really fancy and it's really handy all the same time. When you get it, it's actually really easy to put together once you get the batteries in it. And you basically flip it over to get the grinding started and that's it. It just starts. No fierce shaking required. It's a tad slow, but I really don't think that's so abnormal. I've noticed a lot of automatic grinders are like that.  I think the most appealing thing about this is how incredibly easy this is to fill with salt or peppercorns. That is usually my biggest frustration with automatic or regular pepper grinders or salt shakers.

The thing that is the only downside is the amount of batteries this uses. It uses six AAA batteries and that is quite a lot to me. I really hope that this means that these shakers will last a long time. I kind of wish these were the type you could charge or something as I hate buying batteries (they're so expensive!)

Price wise they aren't bad. They go for $29.95 right now on Amazon.

Purchase now on Amazon.

I received the above products to review and have included an affiliate link for which I will receive small compensation if you purchase through my link.

Fran's Chocolate Sauce Review

There's a chocolate sauce out there that just fills my heart with such joy. It's called Fran's Chocolates. They've been around since 1982 and offer quality, tasty chocolate. Every time I've been lucky enough to try some, I've been rewarded to try such rich, tastily made chocolate.

First, ingredients matter a lot to me, and when you visit their website and read about the ingredients they select for their chocolate, you should be very pleased to choose their products. First, they're gluten-free, they're fair trade and organic, and are non-gmo as well. Read more about the ingredients found in their chocolates.

I had the chance to review their single park bars and also their chocolate sauce. I loved this stuff. I have a confession too. I took like a couple of spoonfuls a day of this stuff. I confess I didn't make it for anything. I just ate it casually like it was my usual thing. This stuff is good. It's rich and it's chocolately. I'd say for those who say they don't like things TOO sweet to cut the sweetness with vanilla ice cream.

And in case you want to step outside the box and actually use chocolate sauce for something more than just by the spoonful, I've accumulate some must try recipes for you.

Twix Brownies

Get the recipe.

I am gluten-free but I'm sure one clever person can turn this recipe into gluten-free goodness. It takes one of my favorite candies and turns it into an incredible dessert that should be tried by all.

Brownie Ice Cream Cake

Get this recipe.

This is a fast and easy ice cream cake that I could see even myself making. It includes chocolate sauce, brownie mixes, and chocolate sandwich cookies and ice cream sandwiches. And if you are hankering for something just amazing, I think you should try this.

Mini Peanut Butter and Banana Pies

Get this recipe.

This is also another tasty dessert that is made with cream cheese, peanut butter, and a topping of whip cream and chocolate sauce. This is bound to make your taste buds leap with joy.

Death by Chocolate Monkey Bread

Get this recipe.

This one is made with biscuits, chocolate syrup, cocoa powder and chocolate chips. You can never have too much chocolate.

Layered Mint Chocolate Brownies

Get this recipe.

I'm kind of into the whole mint and chocolate thing. Aren't you? This one uses two cups of chocolate syrup and peppermint extract in its ingredients and has three layers. Oh yes. This is a good one.

S'mores Pizza Dessert

Get this recipe.

I really love s'mores. I think this pizza idea makes it even that much better. This one uses chocolate chip cookies, graham crackers, chocolate chips and marshmallows with chocolate syrup for drizzling.

Now if you're tastebuds feel inspired, purchase Fran's Chocolate Sauce and you can buy one jar for $10. That is an incredible deal. Purchase now.

5 Must-Have Skin Care Products for the Summer

There are some beauty products that have become staples for me this summer. Obviously, there are some products that are must have such as sunscreen for your face, waterproof sunscreen, and lip balm with SPF, ideally. But as the summer weighs in heavy and the heat becomes pretty blech, I tend to minimize my make up and increase my skin care.

Here's a few items that should be added to your must-have list:

1) Rosewater Glycerin Spray

I actually get this at Whole Foods and this is a must-have. It's light, smells gently like roses, and soothes your skin.  The brand that I use in particular is Heritage Products. Right now, Vitacost has it for $6.92, which is cheaper than what Heritage's online store is selling it for and cheaper than Amazon.

Shop Now

2) Makeup Remover

I know I just said that I don't use makeup remover, but I do at least put on foundation, mascara, some blush and lipstick. So, at the end of the day, I want a clean slate for my face. I tend to not be a huge fan of face washes at night, but I do use a cleansing facial wipe to get rid of dirt, makeup, and anything else that could be clogging on my skin. I use the Simple, Sensitive Skin cleaning wipe. It's the best on my skin, leaves it feeling really good afterwards, not drying at all, and pretty affordable.

Shop Now

3) Coconut Oil

Since using coconut oil for my face, my skin has done a total turnaround. I feel like it actually glows. I put it on in the morning under my foundation and it just leaves my skin feeling so good. I don't have dry areas and it just balances out my skin tone.

Lately, I have been using coconut oil by Shea Moisture. And for an all body experience, I've started using their Hydration Body Oil made with coconut oil and coconut milk. This is actually perfect for the rest of the body, like making sure my legs stay summer smooth!

Shop Now

4) An excellent smelling body wash.

I'm very much into light scents for the summer. Mostly because I find perfumes to be a bit too heavy in the hotter weather. So, scented body washes tend to be the best match for me and I'm personally loving this surprising scented body wash by Shea Moisture called, "Dragon's Blood and Coffee Cherry." (photographed above!) I was a little wary with it thinking it just sounded too weird but this is amazing stuff. It smells SO rich. And the body wash goes a long way too. I also got some scrub with the same scent and I can't wait to try it.

Shop Now

5) Lip balm.

I mentioned lip balm earlier and I am very cautious with what I use on my lips. My skin can be surprisingly sensitive and some lip balms just make my lip skin tear up and get really raw and irritated. So, recently I started using this hydrating lip balm by Nyakio. It goes on clear, unscented, and is pretty long lasting. It comes in a small tube but I don't find that I need to reapply it a lot. I'm using both the Baobab Lip balm and the Kenyan Coffee Lip Polish.  They are bit on the expensive side - about $22 - $24, but I think they're worth it.

So what are your go to beauty and skin care products for the summer?

Checkerbox USA - Men's Socks - The Must Buy for the Guy in Your Life

Men's socks? Really? I mean, I know what you're thinking. How fancy could they could? The white ones come in packs of six. You get the nice black ones in a three pack sometimes. Psh, that's it. Well, that perception of socks is wrong. That's the perception that I know that I had at one point. Until I met CheckerBox Men's Apparel.

Check out these socks I got for my brother -

Aren't they colorful? I know he really liked the color and the nice texture of these socks. They felt good to wear, I just know it.

So CheckerBox USA was founded by 17 year old Randy Gervais as an effort to bring about self expression within everyday society. Guys can be who they want to be with these socks. It's self expression! And if you can do it with fashionable accessories, I say go for it. Read more about the company by visiting this link.

And it may still be summer and you are probably in the whole sandal and barefoot season but as the fall season looms closer, these are the socks you should buy for the guy in your life. Or, if you are guy reading my blog, you should buy these.

A post shared by CheckerBox (@checkerbox) on

The cool thing is these socks and their other accessories are really affordable. They come at $20.00 a pack. And I know they may not come in a pack of six but this is fashion, you guys! And if this kind fashion makes you stand a little straighter and walk with a bit more pep in your step, you have to go for it. If the colorful socks that Checkerbox has to offer calls to you, than I understand. Sure it may not be the pair of socks you wear to the gym, but hey why not? Lounge around the house and just feel fine, I say.

Now if they can only make stuff for women too!

Go online and buy yourself a pair of fancy socks today. Shop now.

Or at least loom with envy by visiting their Instagram site and just watching all those great sock wearing men. Follow now.

20 Recipes Made with Honey Perfect for the Summer [And Giveaway!]

Sometimes it's hard to describe why a particular brand is your favorite. But this one is and I can't wait to tell you why. I am so glad they wanted to work with my blog too!

So, L.R. Rice was started in Colorado back in 1924. It's a women-owned, family operated and in it's 5th generation. Talk about having roots! The family started out working in bee yards, extracting honey and filling glass jars and selling door to door in the Colorado area. They have established relationships with beekeepers across the United States which allows for quality honey to be distrbuted across the country.

Watch their video!

One thing that really makes me like this honey is that it is raw and unfiltered. It's the best way to have honey too. Want to learn more about honey? Check out their FAQ page!

They also offer a wide variety of honey such as wild flower honey and local honey from a variety of areas. Want honey from the Northwest, check out this kind. It is reasonably priced, I thought, it comes at $6.50 online. Roughly that price in the store too.

Honey for me lasts long as well because it is not something I use on everything but I love it so much when I do. This is one of the few brands of honey that I buy regularly so I would highly, HIGHLY recommend it.

One thing is for sure is that whenever a recipe calls for sugar, honey is my go to. However, I tend not to think outside the box too much. So I've collected some really incredible and unique recipes that you need to check out and add to your meal planning!

Kimber Daley from the blog,  "Let's Do Some Good Today"  recommends making fruit salsa with honey! "We love fruit salsa (fruit pulsed in the food processor a few times) and I sometimes drizzle honey over it. We serve it with cinnamon chips (tortillas, cut into wedges, with a bit of butter brushed on top, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, baked until crispy)."

Pam Armstrong of the blog Grey is the New Black and Sidewalk Shoes has a few recipes to share.

5 Ways to Watch Movies Online For Free

Now you don't have to pay a thing to watch a good movie.

I'm in the process of cutting the cord, or at least, cutting BACK on the cord. It's quite the process, let me tell you. I find that I'm contemplating online streaming services such as Amazon streaming, Netflix, and Hulu. My biggest hestiation is that it's so easy to spend money on streaming services and soon I'll be spending as much money as I am on cable. But did you know that there is a way to find free movies online and not ditch on quality content?

Well today over at NationalViral.com, I've talked about five ways you can watch movies for free. I've tried each of these sites myself and I'm a regular visitor to them.

Check out my article here.

And then come back and tell me which sites you visit to watch movies!

Colorfy Your Kitchen! [Sweese Bowls Review[

So I had the chance to review some bowls! They are made by a company called, "Sweese." I like the mission for their products - they build stuff meant to last. And they want to create products we can use again and again. I like that a lot! Check out more about the company here.

I had the chance to try out the assorted porcelain fluted bowls by Sweese.

I have to say - I LOVED these. First, and foremost, I've had them a couple of weeks now and I'm so happy to see I haven't chipped them (does this happen to anyone else all the time)? One of the biggest things that I like about these bowls is that they are very very colorful. And they are also microwave safe, freezer and oven safe as well. I've microwaved with these bowls (I've also put them in the dishwasher and so far, so good). They are fantastic for soup because it holds a lot. To me, these bowls hold a generous sized portion of soup, or beans and rice, or cereal. Thanks to the fluted sides, they're easy to hold and it is just a cool design. I really really like these.

You can buy them on Amazon for $29.99 right now and I think that is a fantastic price for something that I think is high quality. They offer so many other products too so be sure to check out their Amazon page to make your kitchen feel special!

Shea Moisture and Nubian Heritage: My Newly Discovered Favorite Beauty Products

Summer is here you guys! I am not a fan of the heat at all, and just recovered from this massive heat wave last weekend. What an intense ride that was! However, one enormous plus is that I rediscovered these amazing new products that I can't wait for you to try out.

The first is by a brand called, Shea Moisture." This is one of my newest and most favorite companies. They offer SO many things. I had the chance to try out a few items:

Shea Moisture 100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

If you haven't had the chance to use coconut oil on your skin, you need to now. This stuff makes my skin GLOW. And it lasts so long. I accidentally forgot that this stuff melts in the heat though. So you've been warned! I love this brand especially because they make it with fair trade and natural ingredients. I'm not the type to use coconut oil for food reasons but I LOVE it for my skin. I put it on my face every morning and use it as my moisturizer.

Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Radiance Facial Wipes

I like these wipes! I'm not as enthusiastic about these as I am about the coconut oil. I found that I wanted the wipes to be a bit more damp BUT I still found that they took off make up and other things accumulated on my skin that day. It's also such an easy way for me to wash my face (I just won't otherwise). I love this brand so much too, so I highly recommend their stuff.

I also had the chance to try out some stuff by Nubian Heritage!

First this Coconut & Papaya Body Lotion & Body Wash. Oh you guys I love this stuff. I love the lotion and it really doesn't take a lot to moisturize. It smells AMAZING. Also it doesn't make my skin feel greasy afterwards as a lot of lotion does. This body wash is fantastic too. It compliments very well with the lotion and you don't need a lot to lather up either. Leaves me feeling SO clean.

I also had the chance to try out the Coconut & Papaya Deodorant. Oddly, this smelled nice but it was touch and go for me. One day it helped me smell nice all day. Then another day it didn't. I may save it for the winter time when it's not so hot out!

I also got a collection of African Black Soap! This is definitely something I'm saving for a skin, acne break out day. This stuff is fancy stuff and I feel like I want to reserve this stuff for a special beauty day experience.

Overall, I really think you guys should check out the Shea Moisture brand and buy yourself some of their face wipes and coconut oil. They are so wonderful. For the Nubian Heritage, you must buy this Coconut and Papaya Body Lotion. This stuff is my new favorite summer products. I can't wait for you to try this stuff.

Right now you can buy the facial wipes for $5.99 which is a fantastic deal! You can also buy the coconut oil I tried for $12.99 right now. The coconut & papaya body lotion is available right now to purchase for $12.99.  And their body wash for $12.99 as well!

Snack Ideas When You Want Some Energy

What category do you fall under? A mini-meal throughout the day type of person or three major meals all day? I tend to vary. As the weather gets warmer, I definitely fall under the mini-meal throughout the day type of person as I cannot stand eating heavily on a hot day.  And as I try to get exercise into my day, I definitely like choosing the right snacks for an energy boost.

Here's my top five favorite snacks for energy boosting -

Nuts and Seeds.

More specifically, I got for pistachios, sunflower seeds, and almonds. Those are my go to energy boosters! Add in a cheese stick or two and I'm definitely good.

Some peanut butter and fruit. Or peanut butter and celery.

I usually go for berries as my fruit of choice but then also I love adding in some peanut butter. Mixing the two into yogurt is an excellent snack or pre workout breakfast. Or my other snack favorite is peanut butter and celery!

Hard Boiled Eggs

Oh I love when I can make a bunch in advance in preparation for the week or to make sure I have energy for exercise. I like this because it isn't obnoxiously filling, and I just have mine with salt and pepper.

Oatmeal

Oh I like oatmeal. Even better I like baking with it. If you need some ideas outside of the box, I'd recommend "peanut butter oatmeal balls" of some kind as it's a great way to get oatmeal and have a blast of energy.  Here are some recipe ideas!

The other newest thing that I've discovered is great for energy - these Go Macro Bars! It was so cool, I was in Whole Foods yesterday and saw someone in line with one and I almost was like, "Hey, I just discovered these! They're so great!" I couldn't wait to try some when I had the chance.

I think one thing that stands out is that they don't have a lot of sugar. I think this was the biggest perk to me. I had the chance to review a variety of flavors. My favorite was the "Protein Pleasure" which was the peanut butter chocolate chip flavor. That was so good. I'm such a sucker for something with peanut butter and chocolate.  They had other bars with some other nut butters such as sunflower butter, almond butter and cashew butter. I still can't help but love the bars with peanut butter the most. And another thing I really like about them is not only are they certified gluten-free, they are also Non-GMO verified and USDA Organic. These are so important factors for me!

Check out to see which bars you would like!

What snacks or pre-work out meals do you go for when you need some energy? I'd love to know your ideas!

I received the above bars in exchange for my honest review.

Block Island Organics: Excellent Sunscreen for Your Face [My Review + #Coupon]

Am I the only one who completely forgets to renew their sunscreen? I mean, I swear I have stuff from like ten years ago in my bathroom cabinets.  According to the American Academy of Dermatology, your sunscreen is required by the FDA to last at least three years. So we can all breathe a sigh of relief there. But my ten year comment holds true - that stuff needs to go. If you are like me, than that means you are in need of some sunscreen. What kind should you buy?

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends your sunscreen have broad spectrum protection, SPF (which stands for Sun Protection Factor! Did you know that? I didn't!) and be water resistant.  Well I had the chance to try out a Natural Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 by Block Island Organics and I was so impressed. It really is light weight, smells good (well, I love the smell of sunscreen anyways!) and you really don't need a lot at all.

It comes in a container size of 3.4 ounces which is a bit small. However, I personally love using this on my face because of how light weight it is, so I'm not going to use that much of it at once. The only downside is that it isn't water resistant. So if you plan on sweating a lot, or going swimming, you may want to consider using a water proof sunscreen!

The price of this is a tad expensive - about $19.99 - but I think it's worth it for quality. It's really hard to find a good sunscreen for my face that doesn't just cake on or clogs my skin. So I think you should definitely consider this!  And now through July 4th use coupon code nicole for 20% off! This code cannot be combined with other coupon codes.

I received the above item in exchange for my honest review.

The Elephant Pants - Save the Elephants & Feel Comfortable [My Review]

Do you watch the show, "Shark Tank"? I haven't caught but maybe a few episode here and there, but I loved watching the episode featuring the two guys who created "The Elephant Pants." Make sure you check it out first -

Basically, The Elephant Pants were created by two guys with a common goal - save the elephants through clothes. They started in 2014, and have sold more than 400,000 pairs of pants. They have donated more than $127,000 to organizations that work to save elephants. Isn't this amazing?? Check out their story here.  And be sure to find out how exactly they help by visiting this page too .

So, I was lucky enough to get a pair of elephant pants for my mom and I! Here's a photo of me relaxing in my elephant pants -

Well, part of a photo of me anyways. So, my initial thought was - oh how I wish that elastic band wasn't there. I almost wish it was a tie or something. If I'm relaxing, I don't like the idea of something that close to my waste. My mom thought the same thing too. But overall? I'm kind of really liking these. The fabric is thin, so this makes for an excellent pair of pants to wear in the summer. Size wise, I chose a large because I really wanted these pants to be comfortable. I can tell you these were not overly large to me. I'm also 5'9 and the length of the pants ended comfortably at the top of my foot.

Overall, I think you should consider buying yourself these pants. It's part of a good cause, perfect for the summer, and I think you'll like them. They also offer up some other really cool clothes! I've got my eye on their kimonos for sure!

Be sure to check out The Elephant Pants website and purchase some pants for yourself (or for your family!) . Also follow them on Facebook, InstagramPinterest, and Twitter.

I received the above pair of pants mentioned in my post in exchange for my honest review.

Lundberg Rice Review (and Rice Cooker Giveaway)

As you can see, I'm really into rice. Lundberg is also one of my favorite brands!

Here's a bit about the company - they can trace their roots all the way back to 1937 when founders Albert and Frances Lundberg moved to California, in the Sacramento Valley. Albert's four sons grew up to sell the rice their family had been growing and three and four generations later the company is STILL in the family. How cool is that? Read more about the Lundbergs over on their about page.

Well, I was so happy to try out this amazing VitaClay Rice Cooker  and I can't wait to tell you about it. My first impression? WOW this thing is huge. It takes up a lot of counter space and it's just...really really big.

I just tried it last night for the first time (I was daring and made some red rice they sent me). I made a cup of rice and followed their instructions on how to make it. I didn't rinse the rice as they recommend - I just added a 1/4 cup more water (which they recommend you do if you don't want to rinse the rice).

The one major plus? It is so easy to use. I literally just put the rice and the water and hit the button for "rice" and hit start. It was done within 30 minutes!

Side note: I also really like red rice by the way. It has kind of a nutty taste to it and was AMAZING with refried beans.

And one other plus is that while this is behemoth in the kitchen, it doesn't heat up the kitchen that much at all. I loved that. I can't wait for it to get near 80 and see how I feel cooking rice with this.

And one other major plus, this rice cooks up really nicely. I was able to just spoon out all the rice without any of it sticking. And this cleans extremely well too.

I haven't tried anything else with it actually. I am imagining one day I will be brave enough to cook up beans with it. But I'm just happy I have a really easy way to do rice. The only thing is that while it has a way for you to set this to start on it's own, I'd recommend starting it around a time you know you will be home by the time it's done. Apparently if you leave the rice on warm too long, it may dry the rice out. So I'd say, if you get home around 5:30pm from work or something, start this at 5pm (it's really quick to cook) (and I'm assuming you are only cooking rice of course!).

Anyways, I also had the chance to a review a few different things by Lundberg. And like I said, I LOVED the red rice I got the chance to try. I love their wild rice too. It's really flavorful and almost buttery tasting (tastes amazing with grilled onions).

Overall, if you are looking for a trust worthy and reliable rice brand, you must choose Lundberg. They're one of my favorites and they're practically everywhere I shop. Purchase your VitaClay Rice Cooker today  and make sure you purchase some Lundberg rice to go with it! Find out where they are in a store near you.

Best of all, I get to giveaway a Vitaclay rice cooker to one of my lucky readers! Ends 6/30.

Crazy Richards Peanut Butter Review & Giveaway

I absolutely love peanut butter. Really, I mean peanut butter is such a huge part of my diet. And you know, I really appreciate when peanut butter has simple ingredients. Peanuts. Salt. And that's it. I don't like added oils and I'm not TOO big of a fan of flavored peanut butters. Although I'd never turn down chocolate peanut butter (if I found the right blend!).

Anyways, I had the chance to try out some peanut butter by a company called, "Crazy Richards." Crazy Richard's Peanut Butter has been around a while. It was formed and combined by two Richards about 30 years ago and was recently passed along to the newest generation.

Well, I got the chance to try out their peanut butter - creamy and crunchy. I loved it. Here's a weird thing I love with peanut butter - whole milk vanilla Greek yogurt with blueberries! Sure people put peanut butter in smoothies, but I scoop out some of my favorite vanilla greek yogurt into a cup and put it in the freezer with some blueberries. When it's really cold, I spoon out a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter to eat alongside it. It's so good. Something about the salty peanut butter taste with the cold yogurt is so amazing.

Do you have any weird peanut butter combos?

By the way, if you happen to be in need of a new peanut butter recipe, I recommend checking this recipe out. These are peanut butter bars that I made these over the weekend - SO GOOD and very easy to make!

Vegan Peanut Butter Bars

And amazing tasting. And use Crazy Richards peanut butter, I know you won't be disappointed.

The cool thing is - Crazy Richards Peanut Butter also offers up some cashew butter and almond butter, in case you want to try something new. Shop now.

Be sure to follow them on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.

And I'm so happy to announce I get to giveaway a box of 8 single packets of Crazy Richard's Peanut Butter to two winners. Enter via Rafflecopter below. US Only. Ends 6/20.

My Gluten-Free Journey and Finding Really Good Bread [Gluten Free Coupon Inside!]

Having bread when you are eating gluten-free is a tough battle. I was lucky enough to get a variety of bread to review from Gluten Free Things and I can't wait to share my experience with you. More on that later though!

I started going gluten-free a few years ago. I initially did it to support my mom who had realized she had a wheat and gluten allergy. Then when I avoided gluten with her, I realized some issues I had been battling went away. And voila! My gluten-free journey began.

The tough part about being gluten-free is that you want to try and find foods that agree with your system. It can be hard too. Things I never thought had gluten - do. Like some dressings, some spice blends, even some mustards! So shopping has become a careful experience. I read ingredients labels so closely now and google search my heart out when I am suspicious of a product having wheat or gluten.

The funny thing is though, I really miss bread. Like bread, bagels, rolls. In fact, I vividly remember being out at lunch time one day and I saw this woman outside a bakery hold up this really huge french bread roll. I can't even tell you the nostalgia I felt about seeing that.

Oddly, over time, it's gotten a lot easier to avoid things with gluten. Although I have learned recently that I am getting more sensitive to things that I once thought that I could eat! Like a certain brand of mac & cheese I can't eat anymore because I react to it! Bummer, you guys!

So while this blog isn't exclusively about food, and neither is this only a blog about my gluten-free journey, but I thought I'd put it out there.

And you know what? There is good gluten-free bread out there. Recently I had the chance to try a variety of items from the site, GlutenFreeThings.com. They sent me a multitude of bread goodness to try. In fact, I haven't gotten through it all yet! But they have so much to offer for bread. I've tried their everything bagel, their cinnamon raisin bagel, and I also received English Muffins, pizza crust, and hoagie loafs. Bread goodness!

So far I've tried the bagels because I'm kind of on a bagel kick lately. And I can tell already the GlutenFreeThings products are what I'm looking for. The bagels were soft and toasted really well in the toaster.

Isn't this good stuff? I haven't had the chance to try out the pizza crust, but I'm really excited about my experience so far. I think this is an excellent site for bread. Best of all, I didn't even get a reaction from the bread at all. I feel like it's a place you can trust.  AND no holes in the bread (and for anyone who struggles to find the right gluten-free bread, this is an amazing thing. It's one thing to have a hole in the middle of a bagel but I know I hate seeing holes where there shouldn't be in gluten-free bread).

So if you are gluten intolerant or you have Celiac, you must shop with GlutenFreeThings.com. Plus the prices there, really good. For most of the items I tried, it looks like the prices were roughly $5.99. That's the best prices I've seen in a long time! The downside is that shipping is a tad expensive. It uses FedEx Ground. But if you happen to be in one of their neighboring states, the shipping isn't as much! So that's a huge perk! They are located in Colorado and they have a dedicated gluten-free facility! That's an enormous perk to me.

I am also happy to announce to my readers that if you want to purchase bread from GlutenFreeThings.com you can use the coupon code FANCYTHAT20 for 20% off your order.

I received the above items in exchange for my honest review.

Lotus Foods Rice Review and Giveaway

I tend to eat quite a bit of rice in my diet. First, because it's a healthy grain. Plus, I'm also gluten-free and it's a good grain for me to have that won't negatively impact my body.

So I usually purchase one particular type of rice brand, so I was really eager for the chance to try out a new kind. I tried out rice by Lotus Foods. You may have seen them in the store or heard of them before!

What makes Lotus Foods different? Well they work towards improving the lives of the farmers they work with first of all. They use what is called a "System of Rice Intensification." It's a way of allowing farms to "double and triple their yields while using 80-90% less seed, 50% less water, less or no chemical inputs." Basically, more rice, less water. So I tend to be a visual learner, so if you want to know more about what this means, watch this really short video below:

They also partner with small scale farmers, which I think is amazing and I really like working with companies that do that. One thing you can say for sure when you take a look at the rice they have to offer, they have SO many different kinds.

Organic Forbidden Rice (black rice)
Organic Jasmine Rice
Organic Brown Jasmine Rice
Organic Carnaroli Rice
Organic Jade Pearl Rice
Organic Madagascar Pink Rice
Organic Brown Mekong Flower
Organic Traditional Dehraduni Basmati Rice
Organic Volcano Rice
Organic Red Rice

Wow! Did you even know that there were this many different types of rice? I know I didn't.

Okay so I went with the safe route of trying out the white jasmine rice and brown jasmine rice. I personally love this type of rice. It cooked up wonderfully and the texture was great. I thought the white jasmine rice had a creamy buttery texture almost. I usually make rice dishes with beans, or with peas, or just with mixed grilled veggies on top. It's such a great thing to have precooked and made already in the fridge and I enjoy it a LOT.

Check out all the different kinds of rice Lotus Foods has available and purchase some today.

I'm also very excited to announce that I'm giving away a 30 ounce bag of the Basmati rice and Jasmine rice to one lucky reader. US only. Ends 6/14.

Also be sure to follow them on Twitter, FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

I received the above items in exchange for my honest review.

I love rich, thick soups that don't give me any gluten reactions. It includes some veggies and you know it didn't throw me at all. Disney's Beauty and the Beast CD is Here [Enter to win!]

I was lucky enough to receive a copy of the Beauty and the Beast CD! You know that one movie that was recreated by Disney and caused quite a stir? Oh, THAT one. Heh. I couldn't resist taking the opportunity to review the CD because it would give me some insight to what the movie was like!

By the way, the Beauty and the Beast Soundtrack will be on sale for $7.99 starting May 12th through May 18th which you can purchase on iTunes, by the way. Purchase now.

I listened to the CD and I am SUCH a huge fan of the original animated version that I almost couldn't get beyond it to enjoy the CD. However, it did make me curious enough to want to see the movie! Have you seen it? Did you enjoy it as much as the animated version?

I appreciated the remade version of Beauty and the Beast with Ariana Grande and John Legend. Didn't have the same magic as the original but it was a lovely version. But like I said, I'm such a die hard fan of the original so I listened to it with those kinds of ears.

If your mom or you know a mom in your life that loved the movie, I think you should get the CD. And you know, be sure to check out this Mom's playlist by Apple Music. It's beautiful!

Best of all, I get to giveaway a copy of the CD to one lucky reader! Enter to win via Rafflecopter below. Giveaway ends on 5/27. US Only.

What To Do When You Stuck in a Snack Rut [Giveaway Inside!]

Sometimes you can easily get in a rut with food. I know I get that way. The same products are in the store, you have the same lunch ideas, you buy the same snacks, the same everything. I know that it actually can be hard to step outside my comfort zone and try something new.

So that's when subscription boxes can help. It's an excellent way of finding new things to try, getting some extra snacks, and opening up your horizon to new foods. Whether you are celiac or gluten-intolerant or simply eat gluten-free by choice, it's time to broaden those horizons!

I recently had the chance to try out the "American Gluten-Free" food box. Here's the photo of what I received -

1) Jessica's Natural Foods Chocolate Chip Granola

2) Beanits Bean Chips Hint of Line

3) Betty Lou's Strawberry Fruit Bar

4) Health Warrior Chia Bar - Acai Berry

5) Betty Lou's Just Great Stuff Bar - Superberry

6) Brami Beans: Chili Lime

7) Ener-G Original Pretzels

8) Hippea's Organic Chickpea - Vegan White CHeddar

One thing I was so excited to see - Jessica's Natural Foods Chocolate Chip Granola! You actually get a really nice sized bag of granola as well. One thing I love about Jessica's Natural Granola is that it's soft, it's not really crunchy. And it's a really tasty snack.

The Beanitos were also a nice surprise for me too. I've had the chance to review them on this blog before and they are such a great snack chip. They come in so many different flavors and the fact that they are made from beans make them kind of guilt free for me.

The other stand out snack that I enjoyed was the Betty Lou's strawberry fruit bar. That was tasty. A little TOO sweet but I never really mind that problem.

As for the other snacks, I thought they were okay. I was a bit wary of the vegan options, such as the vegan white cheddar puffs and the brami beans. I almost wish in this snack box you could specify whether or not you need dairy free snacks. Although I do know a lot of people with Celiac Disease and who are gluten-interolant that can't have dairy. So I definitely understand the need!

One thing I really like about subscription boxes is that you get so much variety and you are exposed to companies you may not have thought of before. The price is about $24.95. Considering I received 8 items, I think this is a really great price.

If you know anyone who is vegan and gluten-intolerant who could use some new snacks in their life, I would introduce them to this snack box. Purchase now.

They also offer a gluten-free foodie box too which has about 7-9 full sized ingredients and food staples. This is a bit more expensive, about $36.95. But I like the fact that these are full sized, so check it out. Purchase now.

Be sure to follow them on Facebook , Twitter, and Instagram .

I am also excited to announce that I get to giveaway a snack box to one lucky reader! Enter via Rafflecopter below. US Only. Ends 5/27.
