Lundberg Rice Review (and Rice Cooker Giveaway)

As you can see, I'm really into rice. Lundberg is also one of my favorite brands!

Here's a bit about the company - they can trace their roots all the way back to 1937 when founders Albert and Frances Lundberg moved to California, in the Sacramento Valley. Albert's four sons grew up to sell the rice their family had been growing and three and four generations later the company is STILL in the family. How cool is that? Read more about the Lundbergs over on their about page.

Well, I was so happy to try out this amazing VitaClay Rice Cooker  and I can't wait to tell you about it. My first impression? WOW this thing is huge. It takes up a lot of counter space and it's just...really really big.

I just tried it last night for the first time (I was daring and made some red rice they sent me). I made a cup of rice and followed their instructions on how to make it. I didn't rinse the rice as they recommend - I just added a 1/4 cup more water (which they recommend you do if you don't want to rinse the rice).

The one major plus? It is so easy to use. I literally just put the rice and the water and hit the button for "rice" and hit start. It was done within 30 minutes!

Side note: I also really like red rice by the way. It has kind of a nutty taste to it and was AMAZING with refried beans.

And one other plus is that while this is behemoth in the kitchen, it doesn't heat up the kitchen that much at all. I loved that. I can't wait for it to get near 80 and see how I feel cooking rice with this.

And one other major plus, this rice cooks up really nicely. I was able to just spoon out all the rice without any of it sticking. And this cleans extremely well too.

I haven't tried anything else with it actually. I am imagining one day I will be brave enough to cook up beans with it. But I'm just happy I have a really easy way to do rice. The only thing is that while it has a way for you to set this to start on it's own, I'd recommend starting it around a time you know you will be home by the time it's done. Apparently if you leave the rice on warm too long, it may dry the rice out. So I'd say, if you get home around 5:30pm from work or something, start this at 5pm (it's really quick to cook) (and I'm assuming you are only cooking rice of course!).

Anyways, I also had the chance to a review a few different things by Lundberg. And like I said, I LOVED the red rice I got the chance to try. I love their wild rice too. It's really flavorful and almost buttery tasting (tastes amazing with grilled onions).

Overall, if you are looking for a trust worthy and reliable rice brand, you must choose Lundberg. They're one of my favorites and they're practically everywhere I shop. Purchase your VitaClay Rice Cooker today  and make sure you purchase some Lundberg rice to go with it! Find out where they are in a store near you.

Best of all, I get to giveaway a Vitaclay rice cooker to one of my lucky readers! Ends 6/30.
